(Galesburg, IL) – City officials in Galesburg say that the grand opening of the West Main Overpass will need to be put back another month. City officials say that it will now take place in late October. Concrete work on the overpass project has taken longer than expected and its aniticipated that work on the project will be completed around October 26th. Completion of the overpass will allow over 100 trains to pass through town more quietly since they won't need to sound their horns. The initial cost of the project was placed at $11.8-million but that jumped to $11.9-million after it was learned that the installation of crash walls was not part of the initial project bid |
