(Galesburg, IL) – During the work session of the Galesburg City Council on Monday, there was discussion of the possibility of lowering property taxes and instituting a utility tax so balance the budget for 2013. however that topic was met with some apprehension. A presentation was made to members of the city council on the proposed 2013 revenues and expenses for the city. The current projections say that expenses will increase by about 4.4-percent. Revenue is expected to increase by about 5-percent. Officials making the presentation say that much of the increased revenue would come from the new utility tax. That tax would provide to the city funds of about $1.2-million in 2013. |
