a team score of 318. Blackhawk is leading with a 306 at the Prairieview Golf Course, Par 72.

Carl Sandburg College shot a score of 318 in the opening round of the 2012 Region IV golf championship to find themselves in 2nd place after the first of 3 rounds of play . The Chargers were lead by Nick Gustafson, who had sides of 40 & 36, which lead to his opening score of 76.  It was a very windy and cold day with showers off and on throughout which made scoring a problem for most teams besides defending champ Blackhawk who jumped out to a big lead on day 1 with a score of 306 leaving the Chargers 12 shots back.  Josh Bausman of Blackhawk fired a opening round 73 to pace the field.  Sandburg resumes play tomorrow at 10:00 in the 2nd of 3 rounds.  The top 2 teams in the field will qualify for the Div II National Golf Tournament to be played at Goose Pond Village in Scottsboro, Al.

"It took a lot of heart for Nick to shoot 76 after limping off the blocks today, I believe he was 3 over through his first 4 and got settled down to shoot a even par side of 36 on the back which was the only round at par."
