GALESBURG—Students in Carl Sandburg College’s therapeutic massage program donated $352.88 to the Western Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross on Tuesday to go toward relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Students offered chair massages in the Building D lobby on the Main Campus in Galesburg on Tuesday and donated tips from the massages to the Red Cross. The money raised was presented to Carissa Scott, executive director for the Western Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross.

“Knowing the devastation that goes along with flooding and power outages brought it to my attention,” Sandburg therapeutic massage instructor Tammy Nelson said. “We just want to make sure that they’re all safe and fed and warm in the many months that will be ahead of them.”
