St. Norbert used 17 first quarter point and never trailed to defeat Lake Forest 20-10 and claim a share of the MWC Football Championship with the Foresters. The Green Knights win, coupled with the Illinois Col. loss, means that they will earn the MWC automatic bid for the NCAA Playoffs which start next Saturday. St. Norbert got the win despite only gaining 176 total yards and gathering ten first downs led by James Tringali who threw for 110 yards and a score on 13-of-21 passing. Tringali found Joe Green eight times for 75 yards and a score while Austin Williams found the end zone one time on the ground as a part of a 24 carry, 42 yard day. Pete Scaffidi threw for 234 yards on 25-of-47 passing with a score as Austin Sobey caught eight passes for 113 yards. Petr Bohacek led the St. Norbert defense with eight total tackles that included 2.5 sacks. Jake Rotkvich had eight tackles for the Foresters with a pair of sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss. The MWC Championship is the fourth in school history for Lake Forest while it is the 14th for St. Norbert. The Green Knights will be entering the NCAA Playoffs for the tenth time in school history. |
