State Representative Don Moffitt was joined by Lt. Governor Sheila Simon and State Representative Lisa Dugan last week to issue recommendations that they hope will improve rural emergency medical services.  The recommendations were the result of 17 hearings of the Illinois House of Representatives' emergency Medical Services Task Force.  Representative Moffit says that some of the issues brought up during the hearings  are currently being dealt with.  Among them, according to Moffitt is the fact that alot of emergency services don't have two EMTs to go on a call, that is currently being dealt with in the General Assembly.  Lt. Governor Simon testified in Galesburg in favor of increasing the availability of high-quality online training for EMTs and paramedics to improve employee and volunteer retention. Emergency medical service providers are required to complete 120 hours of continuing education every four years to renew their license.
