A fire at an uninhabited house on the Knox and Warren County line resulted in the arrest of a Galesburg man on charges of Arson. The fire was located near the US 34 overpass on 180th Street on the Warren County side of the line. The house had not been used as a dwelling for an undetermined number of years; however, there were items stored inside the house.
Galesburg, Abingdon, and Warren County Central Fire departments were called to the blaze early Monday (11/26/12) morning. The house was a total loss. Investigation at the scene led detectives to believe parts from vehicles and farm machinery at the scene had been stolen at about the time the fire occurred.
Dustin Lewis, 24, of Galesburg was arrested by the Warren County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday morning at the Knox County Sheriff's Office. Lewis was transported to the Warren County Jail and is currently being held on $75,000 bond after being charged with arson by the Warren County State Attorney's Office. Further investigation into the matter is being conducted.
