Fighting Scots Women Nationally Ranked for First Time
Not only did the Monmouth College women's basketball team receive their first national ranking this week, they were named in the top 25 of two separate national polls.
The Fighting Scots debuted at No. 24 in both the USA Today Sports Coaches' Poll and the D3Hoops.com poll. It is the first national ranking in any poll in the 39-year history of the program.
Monmouth is riding a school-record eight-game win streak and recently earned head coach Melissa Bittner her 100th career victory. Included in the win streak is an overtime victory over UW-Whitewater, ranked 16th by D3Hoops.com and 17th in the USA Today poll.
Currently unbeaten through four games in the Midwest Conference, Monmouth will host Knox College Sunday at 3 p.m. before entertaining Cornell - unbeaten in the league after three MWC contests - on Dec. 22. The Rams received votes in both polls, but did not crack the top 25.
