>>Political Icon Struggling With ALS

(Chicago, IL)  --  One of Illinois’ political icons is struggling with Lou Gehrig’s disease.  Dawn Clarke Nestch revealed the news yesterday, calling it one of her toughest challenges.  The disease attacks the nerves in the body and could soon make it difficult for the former state senator and comptroller to walk or even speak.  Netsch has been a solid voice in Illinois politics for about four decades.  She was the first woman to run for governor on a major party ticket in Illinois back in 1994, the first woman to win a statewide race when she was elected comptroller back in 1990, and has been a go-to person when it comes to deciphering the state’s constitution – she helped rewrite the document back in 1970.

(Schaumburg, IL)  --  Three Schaumburg cops are on the other side of the law for allegedly selling drugs.  John Cichy, Matthew Hudak and Terrance O'Brien all work in the narcotics division in the Schaumburg Police Department.  They were arrested yesterday after federal drug officers executed 20 search warrants.  They’re expected to appear in court today.  Each has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
