Lakers Collapse Against Bulls
(Chicago, IL) -- The Bulls outscored the Lakers by 12 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 95-83 win at the United Center. Kirk Hinrich scored 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting with eight assists and seven rebounds for Chicago, which won for the fifth time in its last six games. Jimmy Butler posted 10 points, eight boards and four assists getting the start for the banged up Luol Deng. The Bulls stay home and welcome the Pistons to town tomorrow night.
Bulls' Boozer Wins Honor
(Chicago, IL) -- Bulls forward Carlos Boozer was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week yesterday by the league. Boozer averaged 23 points and nearly 15 rebounds last week. He has a double-double in 11 of his last 13 games, but didn't in last night's win at home against the Lakers.
Blackhawks Host Blues In Home Opener
(Chicago, IL) -- The Blackhawks welcome the Blues to the Madhouse on Madison tonight for their home opener. Chicago has started the season with wins at Los Angeles and Phoenix, putting up 11 goals in the two contests. The Blues are also 2-and-0 this year after beating Detroit on Saturday and winning at Nashville in a shootout last night.
Blackhawks Acquire Goalie Karlsson From Flames
(Chicago, IL) -- The Blackhawks have traded a seventh-round draft pick to the Flames for goalie Henrik Karlsson. The 29-year-old Karlsson played in 26 games over the past two seasons for Calgary, posting a 5-9-and-8 record. The draft pick was originally owned by Ottawa but acquired in a trade by Chicago.
Notre Dame Loses To Georgetown
(South Bend, IN) -- Jerian Grant had 13 points but Notre Dame lost at home to unranked Georgetown last night, 63-47. The 23rd-ranked Fighting Irish got 10 points and 10 rebounds from Jack Cooley in the loss. Notre Dame dropped to 3-and-3 in the Big East and 15-and-4 overall. The Irish hit the road to play South Florida on Saturday.
Illinois At Nebraska Tonight
(Lincoln, NE) -- Illinois looks to bounce back from last week's loss to Northwestern tonight when it plays at Nebraska. The Fighting Illini are just 1-and-4 in Big Ten play and 14-and-5 overall. Nebraska comes in with a 1-and-5 conference mark and is just 10-and-9 on the year.
Wildcats Host Minnesota Tomorrow
(Evanston, IL) -- Northwestern will host 14th-ranked Minnesota in Evanston tomorrow night. The Wildcats lost to Indiana on Sunday after defeating Illinois last week. The 'Cats are now 2-and-4 in Big Ten play and 11-and-8 overall. The Gophers come in with a 15-and-3 overall mark and at 3-and-2 in conference.
Locals Practice At Senior Bowl
(Mobile, AL) -- A few local college football stars are practicing for this week's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. Illinois is represented by defensive lineman Michael Buchanan and offensive lineman Hugh Thornton. Notre Dame offensive lineman Braxston Cave also made the trip. All three are representing the North team. The game will take place on Saturday.
Three To Return To Fire
