>>Quinn Inks Child Safety Bill

(Springfield, IL)  --  Illinois Governor Pat Quinn stops to sign a major piece of legislation intended to keep kids safe.  Quinn yesterday made "Erin's Law" official.  It requires schools to teach age-appropriate sexual assault awareness classes to students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.  Lawmakers believe "Erin's Law" could prevent sexual assault from happening and will give victims a voice.

>>Second Coach Suspended For Hazing Incident  

(Chicago, IL)  --  Yet another coach associated with a hazing incident at a Chicago-area high school faces sharp disciplinary action.  Officials at Maine Township High School say freshmen boys soccer coach Emilio Rodriguez will be suspended without pay.  School district officials are still considering whether to fire Rodriguez.  One month ago, head varsity soccer coach Michael Divincenzo was also suspended without pay because of hazing allegations which surfaced in October.

>>Surveys Bode Well For IL Duck Population

(Springfield, IL)  --  New results from aerial surveys show improvements in how ducks make use of the Illinois River Valley.  The Illinois Natural History Survey's data is finding waterfowl numbers above the ten-year average.  The INHS has been collecting the data since 1948.

>>U-I Increases Tuition

(Champaign, IL)  --  The University of Illinois says its undergraduate students will pay more for tuition beginning this fall.  U-I will hike tuition fees by nearly two-percent.  The increase is actually the school's smallest single tuition hike in two decades.  A full year's tuition for U-I students living on campus will now cost just under 25-thousand-dollars.
