Robinson To Be Inducted Into Pac-12 Hall
(Walnut Creek, CA) -- Chicago Bulls guard and former University of Washington star Nate Robinson is one of 12 who will be inducted into the Pac-12 Hall of Honor next month. Robinson was a two-sport star in football and basketball at UW and has been in the NBA since 2005. The ceremony will take place March 16 at the conference mens basketball tournament in Las Vegas. The Bulls are off that day.
Blackhawks In Canada
(Chicago, IL) -- The Blackhawks look to start another winning streak going into tonight's game in Vancouver. Chicago is 6-0-and-1 through its first seven games and on Wednesday had their six-game victory streak snapped. Game two of the Hawks road swing is scheduled for Friday night in Vancouver.
Cubs' Marmol Accused Of Domestic Violence
(Chicago, IL) -- According to a report in the "Chicago Sun-Times," Cubs pitcher Carlos Marmol faced charges of domestic violence in the Dominican Republic Wednesday. Marmol's attorney counter-sued claiming extortion, the paper reported. The club is looking into the matter and had no comment on Thursday.
Former Cub Grace Sentenced To Jail Time
(Phoenix, AZ) -- Multiple reports said former Cubs first baseman Mark Grace was sentenced to four months in jail on Thursday after pleading guilty to charges of driving under the influence of alcohol. Grace is to begin serving his sentence on Feb. 10. Grace was replaced as color commentator on Arizona Diamondbacks baseball broadcasts midway through last season.
Illinois Upset Bid Falls Short
(East Lansing, MI) -- Keith Appling scored 24 points and added eight rebounds and seven assists to lead number-9 Michigan State to an 80-75 comeback win over Illinois Thursday night. The Fighting Illini led by 10 at halftime but gave up 53 second-half points. Tracy Abrams led the Illini with 16 points but Illinois lost its fifth game in the last six. Illinois is 15-and-7 overall and 2-and-6 in the Big Ten and hosts Wisconsin on Sunday.
