Illinois Stuns #1 Indiana
(Champaign, IL) -- Tyler Griffey made a lay up as time expired to lift the Illinois Fighting Illini over the top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers, 74-72. He finished with 14 points and eight rebounds for Illinois, which improved to 16-and-8 and 3-and-7 in the Big Ten. D.J. Richardson tallied 23 points, while Brandon Paul helped out with 21 points in the win.
Illinois gets another shot at an upset when it goes to number-18 Minnesota on Sunday. Notre Dame hosts 12th-ranked Louisville on Saturday. DePaul looks to avoid its eighth straight loss when it plays Saturday at Marquette.
Blackhawks Blow Out Coyotes
(Glendale, AZ) -- Patrick Kane had two goals and an assist as the Blackhawks pounded the Coyotes, 6-2. Jonathan Toews [[ Tayves ]], Viktor Stalberg and Bryan Bickell each scored a goal and recorded an assist. Patrick Sharp added three assists for the Blackhawks. Chicago won its third straight game. Thursday marked the first time that Raffi Torres and Marian Hossa [[ HOE-suh ]] played in the same game since last spring, when Torres launched himself into the air and drilled Hossa with a shoulder to the head and knocked him out of the playoffs.
Bulls Blown Away By Denver
(Denver, CO) -- Denver outscored the Bulls by 21 in the third quarter and coasted to a 128-96 win. Chicago got 19 points from Daequan Cook and 18 points from Carlos Boozer. The Nuggets won their eighth straight game and the Bulls lost their third in the past four games. The Bulls are in Utah tonight.
Twelve Area Collegians Get Combine Invites
(Indianapolis, IN) -- The annual NFL combine has invited more than 300 college football players to its showcase for coaches, scouts and executives later this month. Eight Notre Dame players got invitations, including linebacker Manti Te'o. Four Illinois players were also invited, including defensive end Michael Buchanan.
