Hit Man Accusations Lead To New Charges For Inmate
(Chicago, IL) -- New charges are being filed against an Illinois inmate accused of sexual assault on a child. Authorities in Cook County say they filed solicitation of murder-for-hire charges against Brian Thurman after it was discovered he tried to hire a hit man to kill his eleven-year-old victim and her family. Thurman allegedly asked a fellow inmate at Cook County Jail to help him find someone to pull-off the murders. But the inmate tricked Thurman by giving him the phone number of an undercover sheriff's investigator.
Ex-Cubby Grace Jailed On DUI Charge
(Phoenix, AZ) -- Former Chicago Cubs' great Mark Grace is heading to jail in Arizona. The former first baseman reported to jail in suburban Phoenix yesterday to begin his four-month sentence for DUI. Grace was arrested in August after he was stopped by Scottsdale, Arizona police driving with a suspended license and without his required interlock device from a previous DUI conviction. As part of his plea agreement the 48-year-old will reportedly be allowed work release conditions and he also must serve two-years of supervised probation.
R-R Crossing Collision Hospitalizes Two
(Chicago, IL) -- Two people, including an infant, are recovering in a Chicago hospital this morning following a collision near Midway Airport in Garfield Ridge. Authorities say a train and a car collided sometime last night around 8:30 p.m. at a railroad crossing at West 54th Street and South Long Avenue. One female victim was in serious condition with a head injury while a baby girl was reportedly in fair-to-serious condition. Witnesses say the victims' car was crushed underneath the train.
Cubs, White Sox Begin Spring Training This Week
(Mesa, AZ) -- The sounds of Chicago baseball return from hibernation this week in Arizona. Pitchers and catchers for the Cubs officially reported for the first time yesterday at the team's training facility in Mesa. Cubs President Theo Epstein addressed the media yesterday. Meanwhile, pitchers and catchers for the White Sox officially join the fray today at their spring training facility in Glendale.
