Report: Rams To Hire Walton
(St. Louis, MO) -- ESPN reports the Rams are set to hire Detroit Lions assistant Tim Walton as their defensive coordinator. Walton has been the Lions secondary coach since 2009. He is only 41 years old.
No New Contract For Wainwright Yet
(Jupiter, FL) -- Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright and the organization have decided to put contract talks on hold. The two parties discussed a potential long term deal earlier this week. Wainwright is in the last year of his contract.
Blues' Halak Re-Injures Groin
(St. Louis, MO) -- The St. Louis Blues will continue to be without goalie Jaroslav Halak [[ YAR-oh-slav hah-LOCK ]]. The netminder re-injured his groin during warmups before Monday's 4-1 home loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Halak had been activated from injured reserve on Sunday in preparation for the start. Head coach Ken Hitchcock said after yesterday's practice that Halak is listed as day-to-day. The 27-year-old is 3-and-0 with two shutouts and a 2.10 goals-against-average in five games this season. The Blues begin a three-game road trip today in Detroit.
Illinois Hosts Purdue
(Champaign, IL) -- Illinois looks to stay on its recent roll tonight when it hosts Purdue. Last week, the Fighting Illini took down a pair of top-25 teams by beating previously top-ranked Indiana and Minnesota. The victories moved the Illini to 17-and-8 with a 4-and-7 Big Ten record. The Boilermakers are 12-and-12 and 5-and-6.
Tigers Take On MSU
(Starkville, MS) -- Missouri shoots for its second straight win tonight when it plays Mississippi State on the road. The Tigers crushed Ole Miss last time out, 98-79, to move to 17-and-6 overall and 6-and-4 in the SEC. The Rebels are 7-and-15 and 2-and-8.
