Blues Beat Red Wings In OT
(Detroit, MI) -- Alexander Steen found the back of the net 52 seconds into overtime to lift the Blues past the Red Wings, 4-3. Chris Stewart had a goal and an assist for St. Louis, which snapped a five-game slide. Jake Allen made 15 saves in net for his first career NHL victory. The Blues play at Calgary on Friday.
Illinois Blows Out Purdue
(Champaign, IL) -- Illinois rolled to a 79-59 win over Purdue in Big Ten basketball action last night. D.J. Richardson led the way for the Fighting Illini with 18 points. The Illini won its third straight following upsets of two ranked teams last week. Illinois is 5-and-7 in the Big Ten and 18-and-8 overall and is at Northwestern on Sunday.
Tigers Ease Past Bulldogs
(Starkville, MS) -- Missouri held Mississippi State to 10 first-half points on its way to a 78-36 win over the Bulldogs Wednesday. Keion Bell scored 24 points to lead all scorers and Jabari Brown added 20 points. The Tigers have won two straight to go to 7-and-4 in the SEC and 18-and-6 overall. They are at Arkansas on Saturday.
Billikens Hosting Charlotte
(St. Louis, MO) -- Saint Louis can run its winning streak to seven straight on Saturday with a win over Charlotte. The Billikens are 7-and-2 in the Atlantic 10 and 18-and-5 overall. Charlotte is 6-and-4 and 18-and-6 but has lost two of its last three.
