In a poll of members conducted by the Galesburg-Area Chamber of Commerce 87% of respondents said they did not support Gov. Quinn's proposed increase of the minimum wage to $10.
Members were sent a one question survey asking “Do you support increasing the minimum wage from $8.25 to $10.00 an hour?” Only 11 % supported the proposal, 2% said they didn't care.
“Doing business in Illinois already has its share of challenges. Raising the minimum wage to the highest rate in the Nation will undoubtedly cause businesses to reduce their workforce, halt expansion, and potentially close their doors,” said Steven N. Brody, Executive Director of the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce in a press release.
Brody said the results will be sent to area legislators and Quinn's office
