Avalanche Top Blues In Overtime

(Denver, CO)  --  David Jones scored the game-winning goal with 17 seconds left in overtime, leading Colorado to a 1-0 win over St. Louis.  Semyon Varlamov saved all 33 shots he faced for his 10th-career shutout.  Jaroslav Halak registered 19 saves for the Blues.  St. Louis was shut out for the first time this season and dropped to 9-6-and-1.

Saint Louis Set For Big Showdown


(St. Louis, MO)  --  The Billikens head to Indianapolis this week for Friday's game against number-15 Butler.  A win for Saint Louis keeps them atop the Atlantic 10 standings.  SLU has won eight straight games to improve to 20-and-5 overall and 9-and-2 in conference play.

High-Flying Tigers Get Kentucky Next


(Columbia, MO)  --  Fresh off its upset of number-four Florida, Missouri goes to Kentucky for Saturday's game.  The Tigers are 19-and-7 overall and 8-and-5 in the SEC.  Mizzou has won three of its last four games.

Illinois Hosting Nittany Lions

(Champaign, IL)  --  Illinois looks for its fifth straight win tonight against Penn State at home.  The Fighting Illini is 6-and-7 in the Big Ten and 19-and-8 overall.  Penn State is winless in the conference at 0-and-13.

Hall Of Fame Broadcaster Garagiola Retires

(Scottsdale, AZ)  --  Hall of Fame broadcaster Joe Garagiola is calling it a career.  The 87-year-old St. Louis native formally announced his retirement Wednesday after 57 years in the business.  Garagiola spent the last 15 seasons doing select television broadcasts for the Arizona Diamondbacks.  He played nine seasons in the majors as a catcher in the 1940's and 50's.  Garagiola went into broadcasting after his playing days in 1955, calling St. Louis Cardinals games on radio before going on to a long career with NBC.
