Bulls set for Sixers
(Chicago, IL) -- Slipping in the playoff standings the Bulls host the Sixers tonight. It's a rematch of the 2012 first-round playoff series when Derrick Rose tore his ACL against Philly. It's still unclear when Rose will make his return. Chicago has dropped to sixth in the Eastern Conference playoff standings after entering the month in third and leading the Central Division.
Ailing Blues Set To Host Mighty Blackhawks
(St. Louis, MO) -- The struggling Blues host the high-flying Blackhawks tonight in St. Louis. Chicago leads the league with a record of 16-0-and-3 while St. Louis is 10-6-and-2. The Hawks have not lost a game in regulation this season and they're bidding to increase that streak to 20 games.
Dodgers Knock Off Cubs In Slugfest
(Mesa, AZ) -- Jerry Hairston Jr. drove in three runs lifting the Dodgers to an 11-7 win over the Cubs.
Making an early exit, Chicago pitcher Brooks Raley gave up three runs on four hits and one walk in one plus innings. The Cubs scored four runs on Aaron Harang in the first inning but it wasn't enough. Scott Feldman will make his Cubs debut on Thursday when he starts against the A's in Mesa.
Cubs' Castro Should Be OK After Hamstring Scare
(Mesa, AZ) -- Pulling up lame while running to first base, Cubs' slugger Starlin Castro is apparently okay. Playing the Dodgers in yesterday's Cactus League matchup, Castro grabbed his leg and started hobbling after trying to beat out an infield single. He was pulled from the game and is currently listed as day-to-day with tightness in his left hamstring.
Sox Defeat Rangers
(Glendale, AZ) -- The newly acquired Conor Gillaspie homered for Chicago leading the White Sox to an 8-4 victory over Texas. Gillaspie also had four RBIs Tuesday against the Rangers. Improving to 3-0-and-2, the Sox are unbeaten through their opening five exhibition games for the first time since moving spring training from Florida to Arizona in 1998.
Arrested For Pot Bears' Webb Reportedly Won't Face Charges
(Chicago, IL) -- Bears offensive lineman J'Marcus Webb reportedly won't be charged with marijuana possession. The 24-year-old was arrested Sunday night after police pulled him over for speeding about six hours south of Chicago. Police found less than 2.5 grams of marijuana according to the police report. The case had been set for a March 18th hearing and Webb was released after posting $500 bail. However, Pulaski County State's Attorney Grayson Gile told the Southern Illinoisan the hearing would not be necessary.
DePaul Falls To Louisville
(Rosemont, IL) -- Scoring the first eight points of the game the Blue Demons wound up losing to Louisville 79-58. Depaul's quick start was followed by a 10-0 run by the Cardinals. Brandon Young scored 22 points for the Blue Demons and DePaul forward Cleveland Melvin had 20 in the loss. The Blue Demons drop to 2-13 in conference play with South Florida on tap Sunday.
