Blackhawks Put Streak On Line Against Wild

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Blackhawks put their NHL-record points streak on the line tonight when they host the Minnesota WILd.  Chicago moved to 19-0-and-3 with Sunday's shootout victory in Detroit.  It's the best start to a season in NHL history.  Minnesota comes in having won three out of four to move to 11-8-and-2.  The puck drops tonight at 7:30.

Bulls Back In Action Tomorrow

(San Antonio, TX)  --  The Bulls wrap up their brief two-game road trip tomorrow night in San Antonio against the Spurs.  Chicago fell at Indiana on Sunday, ending a two-game winning streak.  The defeat dropped the Bulls to 34-and-26 on the year and into the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference, tied with Brooklyn.  The Spurs hold the NBA's best record at 47-and-14.

Jordan Wants Paternity Suit Dismissed

(Atlanta, GA)  --  NBA legend Michael Jordan is calling for a paternity suit filed in an Atlanta court to be dismissed.  Jordan's lawyer says it's been proven that the father of Pamela Smith's 16-year-old son is her ex-husband, not Jordan.  Documents that establish the paternity of the teen were attached to Jordan's response to the suit.

Cubs Sign 21 Players, Including Barney

(Mesa, AZ)  --  The Cubs signed 21 players yesterday, including second baseman Darwin Barney.  All the contracts were deals for the 2013 season.  Barney hit .254 with seven homers and 44 RBI last season.  Catcher Welington Castillo and pitcher Travis Wood, Brooks Raley and Chris Rusin were among the other notables to agree to terms.

Cubs Fall To Tribe

(Mesa, AZ)  --  The Cubs allowed 20 hits in a 13-5 loss to the Indians in Mesa yesterday.  Alfonso Soriano was 2-for-2 with a solo homer while Johermyn Chavez also left the yard on a solo blast.  Starter Alberto Cabrera was roughed up to the tune of five runs in two-and-two-thirds innings.  The Cubbies take on the Rockies in Scottsdale this afternoon.

White Sox Reliever Crain To Miss WBC

(Glendale, AZ)  --  White Sox reliever Jesse Crain will sit out of the World Baseball Classic because of a right adductor strain.  Crain was set to pitch for Team Canada, but felt discomfort in his groin area during his lone spring outing just over a week ago.  He posted a 2.44 ERA in 51 games last year.  Crain had pitched for Canada in the previous two WBC tournaments.

ChiSox Rough Up Giants

(Glendale, AZ)  --  The White Sox used a four-run fourth inning to take care of the Giants in Glendale yesterday, 6-2.  Jeff Keppinger was 3-for-3 with a run scored while Dwayne Wise connected on a three-run homer.  John Danks gave up one run over two innings in the start.  Chicago takes on Team USA this afternoon from Camelback Ranch.

Illinois Plays At Iowa


(Iowa City, IA)  --  Illinois hits the road tonight to play Iowa.  The Fighting Illini are battling for seeding in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament.  Illinois is tied with Minnesota at 8-and-8 in conference and is one game up on the Hawkeyes and Purdue BoIlermakers.  At 21-and-9, the Illini are looking for their seventh win in eight games.  Tonight's tip is set for 6:00.

Notre Dame Hosts St. John's

(South Bend, IN)  --  Notre Dame plays its final home game of the year tonight as it hosts St. John's.  The Fighting Irish fell to 10-and-6 in the Big East after Saturday's loss at Marquette.  At 22-and-7, Notre Dame is looking for better position in the upcoming Big East Tournament.  St. John's enters the game at 8-and-8 in league play.  Tonight's tip is at 6:00.
