Cardinals' Furcal To Have Elbow Surgery
(Jupiter, FL) -- St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Rafael Furcal [[ fur-CALL ]] will undergo reconstructive elbow surgery next week after being examined by Dr. James Andrews. A normal recovery time of six-to-eight months would likely sideline Furcal for all of the 2013 campaign. He suffered a partially torn ligament last August but opted for rest and rehab instead of surgery in the offseason. Furcal tried throwing early in spring training and was shut down this past weekend. He hit .264 with five homers and 49 RBI in 121 games last season.
Cards Clip Yankees
(Jupiter, FL) -- Kolton Wong hit a two-run home run to tie the game and Adron Chambers singled to win the contest in the Cardinals' 7-6 victory over the Yankees. Pete Kozma had a two-run shot and Daniel Descalso added a solo jack for St. Louis. Edward Mujica earned the win in relief. The Cardinals clash with Washington in Viera today.
Blues Cruise Past Coyotes
(Glendale, AZ) -- Patrik Berglund scored twice and Chris Stewart had a goal and two assists, as the Blues cruised past the Coyotes 6-3 at Jobing.com Arena. Alex Pietrangelo [[ puh-TRAN-geh-loh ]] tallied a goal and a helper, while David Perron [[ peh-RAWN ]] added four assists for St. Louis, which snapped a two-game skid. Jake Allen denied 23 of the 26 shots he faced in the victory. The Blues are at San Jose tomorrow and at Anaheim on Sunday.
NHLPA Approves Realignment Plan
(New York, NY) -- The NHL Players' Association is signing off on the league's realignment plan. The NHL plans to go from six to four divisions next season. The top three teams in each division will qualify for the postseason, with four other wild cards making up the 16-team playoff field. The realignment plan is still subject to approval by the NHL Board of Governors. If approved, realignment will make travel more efficient as well as restore multiple matchups with some traditional rivals.
Billikens Face La Salle
(St. Louis, MO) -- The Saint Louis Billikens end the regular season at home against the La Salle Explorers on Saturday. The Billikens saw an 11-game win streak end on Wednesday after a 77-66 overtime loss to Xavier. SLU is tied atop the Atlantic 10 standings with VCU at 12-and-3. Saint Louis is 23-and-6 overall, while La Salle is 21-and-7 and 11-and-4 in the A-10.
Missouri Meets Tennessee
(Knoxville, TN) -- The Missouri Tigers end the regular season tomorrow afternoon in Knoxville against the Tennessee Volunteers. The Tigers come in at 22-and-8 and 11-and-6 in the SEC. The Vols are 18-and-11 and 10-and-7 in conference play.
Illinois Ends Season At Ohio State
(Columbus, OH) -- The Illinois Fighting Illini end the regular season in Columbus against Ohio State on Sunday. The Illini defeated OSU 74-55 in early January. Illinois is 21-and-10 and 8-and-9 in the Big Ten following two losses in its last three games. The Buckeyes come in at 22-and-7 and 12-and-5 in the Big Ten.

(St. Louis, MO) -- The Missouri Valley Conference Tournament began at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis last night. Seventh-seeded Missouri State topped 10th-seeded Southern Illinois, 61-53. Ninth-seeded Drake defeated eighth-seeded Bradley, 81-66. Today, top-seeded Creighton plays Drake, Fourth-seeded Evansville faces number-five Indiana State, second-seeded Wichita State meets Missouri State and third-seeded Northern Iowa takes on sixth-seeded Illinois State.
