“SECOND IN A SERIES - LOCAL NAACP BRANCH HOLDS MAYORAL ROUNDTABLE”
Following its February 21st Mayoral Candidate Forum, the Galesburg NAACP Branch 3016 is holding a Mayoral Candidate “Roundtable” from 6 to 8pm on Thursday, March 21st at the Galesburg Community Center on Simmons Street. Members and audience participants will hold ‘mini-conversations’ with the candidates in an informal atmosphere in order to clear up confusions created between the February 21st and March 5th sessions. The public is welcome to attend this free community event.
The local Galesburg NAACP reorganized its branch in April, 2012. The NAACP is the nation’s oldest civil rights organization and recently registered close to one million voters in their 2012 “Get Out The Vote” campaign. The local NAACP’s Political Action Committee was responsible for registering more than 200 new Knox County voters and for obtaining rides to the polls for more 100 Knox County voters during the November, 2012 election.
