SMALL BUSINESS DAY AWARD NOMINATIONS SOUGHT
In recognition of National Small Business Week, an awards luncheon for small businesses will be celebrated at Lake Storey Pavilion on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 from 11:30 am to 1 pm. The Small Business Day celebration organized by the Entrepreneurship Support Network (ESN) of West Central Illinois will recognize business leaders for their excellence in a variety of categories.
“This is an important opportunity to honor small businesses for the important role they serve in our region,” said Steven Brody, Executive Director of the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce and member of ESN. “Through events such as this one we not only bring awareness to the significance of our small business community, but we also encourage others to think entrepreneurially themselves,” he said.
“This will be our 4th Annual Small Business Day,” said Carrie McKillip, from the University of Illinois Extension and member of the ESN collaboration. “Every year we see a strong turn-out in terms of both nominated businesses and those attending the luncheon,” said McKillip. “It’s an exciting and powerfully inspiring event.”
Nominations for a variety of awards are being sought and registration for the May 14th celebration is underway. Businesses are encouraged to self-nominate. Paper forms may be picked up at the University of Illinois Extension Office – Knox County, 180 S Soangetaha Road, Suite 108, Galesburg. This year, for the first time, forms are also available online.
