Man Facing Charges For Hit And Run

(Chicago, IL)  --  A Chicago man is facing charges for last week's hit and run that killed a woman in the Brighton Park neighborhood.  Police say Fernando Marin was speeding down South Homan Avenue Thursday night when he hit the woman and dragged her under his truck while trying to turn onto Archer Avenue.  Marin is being held on a 250-thousand-dollar bond.

Two Area Airport Towers To Close

(Chicago, IL)  --  Two Chicago-area airports will be affected by the federal sequester.  Officials say the towers at Gary/Chicago International and Waukegan Regional Airport are on the list to close.  A total of 149 towers across the country are scheduled to begin closing on April 7th.

14-Year-Old Shot In The Buttocks

(Chicago, IL)  --  A 14-year-old is recovering from a gunshot wound.  Police say the boy was shot in the buttocks Sunday afternoon near 37th Street and South Hamilton Avenue.  No arrests have been made.

Son Accused Of Stabbing Father To Death

(Chicago, IL)  --  A man accused of stabbing his father to death is in police custody.  Investigators say Kenneth Johnson was stabbed "multiple times" early Sunday morning near 114th Street and South Rockwell Avenue during a domestic dispute.  Police arrested Johnson's 24-year-old son.

Man Shot In The Head For Double Parking

(Chicago, IL)  --  A man reportedly shot in the head because he double-parked is recovering.  According to the "Chicago Tribune," an argument broke out early Sunday morning in the Marquette Park neighborhood when the 30-year-old partially blocked South Maplewood Avenue. The victim is from DeKalb and was in town to celebrate a friend's birthday.

Man Charged With Killing His Own Dad

(Undated)  --  A man is facing charges in Chicago for allegedly killing his own father.  Authorities say Kenneth Johnson was pronounced dead early yesterday morning at Advocate Christ Medical Center.  His 24-year-old son Mason Johnson was charged with first-degree murder.

Churches Band Together To Curb Violence

(Chicago, IL)  --  Churches on Chicago's Northwest Side are banding together in an effort to end street violence.  The churches used Palm Sunday services to form the anti-violence network.  The churches will try to encourage community members to promote peace on their streets.  According to the "Tribune," speakers told each audience member to be a "personal remedy for violence."

Man Dies From Injuries Sustained In '93 Shooting


(Chicago, IL)  --   A Chicago man is dead from injuries he suffered in a shooting two decades earlier.  Keith Cunningham was 16-years-old in July 1993 when he and two others were shot.  The "Tribune" says Cunningham died Friday.  The immediate cause of death is sepsis, which the report says is a complication of the quadriplegia he developed as a result of the shooting.

Teen Dies In Calumet City Shooting

(Calumet City, IL)  --  A weekend shooting in Calumet City has taken the life of a teen from South Holland.  WGN-TV reports 17-year-old Tyshaun McClurge was found by police in an apartment bedroom.  He'd reportedly been shot.  Police say they have conflicting reports of how the teen was actually shot.
