SLU Sees Season End In Loss To Oregon
(San Jose, CA) -- Saint Louis saw its season come to an end Saturday with a 74-57 loss to Oregon in the NCAA Tournament. Kwamain Mitchel had 18 points for SLU while Dwayne Evans added 16 points and nine rebounds. The Billikens finish the year at 28-and-7 while the Ducks move on to the Sweet 16 to play top-seeded Louisville.
Illinois Falls Short Against Miami
(Austin, TX) -- Brandon Paul's 18 points were not enough for Illinois in last night's 63-59 loss to Miami in the NCAA Tournament. Nnanna Eqwu added 12 points and 12 boards for the Fighting Illini, who end the season at 23-and-13. The second-seeded Hurricanes move on to play Marquette in the Sweet 16.
Cardinals Fall To Mets
(Jupiter, FL) -- Jon Jay was 3-for-3 with two RBI but the Cardinals fell to the Mets yesterday, 10-7. Allen Craig was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI in the loss. Jake Westbrook allowed three runs, two earned, over six innings in the start. St. Louis is now 12-and-14 in spring play. The Cards battle the Twins in Fort Myers today.
Freese To Be Examined
(Jupiter, FL) -- Cardinals third baseman David Freese will have an MRI on his back today. He was a scratch from yesterday's lineup after experiencing pain in his lower back. The team says it's possible Freese will not be ready by Opening Day. Freese will also likely be limited to minor-league games the rest of the spring, if he's able to play.
Cubs Clip Tribe
(Goodyear, AZ) -- Chris Rusin threw five-and-a-third innings of two-hit ball as the Cubs edged the Indians, 4-3. Alfonso Soriano and Steve Clevenger each drove in a run for Chicago, which is now 16-and-15 in spring play. The Cubs meet the Giants today in Mesa.
Flames Edge Blues
(Calgary, Alberta) -- T.J. Oshie had a goal and assisted on Vladmir Sobotka's tally, but the Flames pulled out a 3-2 win over the visiting Blues. Jaroslav Halak made 14 stops for St. Louis, which has dropped two out of three since a three-game winning streak. The Note is now 17-12-and-2. The Blues are back home tomorrow night to battle the Oilers.
Devils Acquire D'Agostini From Blues
(Newark, NJ) -- Forward Matt D'Agostini is going from St. Louis to New Jersey. The Devils acquired the 26-year-old and a conditional seventh-round pick in 2015 from the Blues for a conditional fifth-round pick in 2015 on Friday. D'Agostini had one goal and one assist in 16 games with St. Louis this season. He has 45 goals and 46 assists in parts of seven NHL seasons.
Rams CB Johnson Faces DUI Charge
(Missoula, MT) -- Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson was arrested Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence in Montana. He was released after posting 700-hundred-dollars bond. The 23-year-old was a third-round draft pick out of the University of Montana in 2012.
