A two vehicle accident on US 67 just south of Monmouth yesterday afternoon claimed the life of a 76-year-old Monmouth woman. The Illinois State Police report the accident occured around 2:30pm at the intersection of 185th Avenue. Charles Seward and his wife Betty Seward were driving on 185th Avenue and failed to yield at the intersection of US 67 and their vehicle was struck in the passenger side by a vehicle driven by  39-year-old Keith Pilkington of Knoxville. Betty was a passenger in the vehicle and was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Warren County Coroner William Underwood. 78-year-old Charles Seward was transported to OSF Holy Family Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. Pilkington received minor injuries but refused medicla treatment. Charles Seward was cited with failure to yield at an intersection.
