Flood warnings are in effect in much of Central Illinois, including Peru, Kankakee, Galesburg, and Quincy.  The Mississippi and Illinois Rivers are at historic highs and could continue rising if more rain falls as expected in the next few days.  People in river towns should use extreme caution if they decide to get out.  Officials warn not to attempt driving in high standing waters as the currents can overtake the vehicle and have very tragic results.  There are reports that a levy at Oquawka broke around noon on Sunday. Some Parts Of Illinois, Mississippi Rivers May Crest Today.  Residents along parts of the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers may see their rising waters crest today, depending on how far north they live.  The Army Corps of Engineers expects areas around St. Louis to start cresting at mid-week, and areas further south will crest several days after that.  The Corps has shut down locks on both rivers in hopes of preventing any further barge accidents like the one involving nine barges that broke away during flooding late on Thursday.
