One Killed, 12 Wounded In Weekend Violence
(Chicago, IL) -- One person is dead and at least twelve others are injured from weekend violence. Police say a 15-year-old boy was among those injured. He was shot Friday afternoon on South Claremont Avenue in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.
Police Investigate Hit And Run
(Chicago, IL) -- Police are investigating a hit and run on city's west side. Investigators say a 50-year-old man was struck Sunday morning while crossing Ogden Avenue near Pulaski Road Sunday morning. Police say the car was a four-door, gold or orange Pontiac between the years of 2002 and 2004, and likely has damage on the windshield and the passenger side.
Search Resumes For Body Of One-Year-Old
Maywood, IL) -- There's still no sign of a one-year-old dumped in the Des Plaines River two weeks ago. The search for the body of Bryeon Hunter resumed Saturday after being called off because of flooding in the Chicago area. The boy's mother and her boyfriend have been charged with his murder.
Four People Charged With Richton Park Attack
(Chicago, IL) -- A mom, her two children and another man are facing charges for beating a man last week in Richton Park. Police say the group swarmed the 30-year-old man Thursday night, stabbing him 17-times and breaking his arm. Prosecutors say the victim could be paralyzed because of a stab wound to the back.
South Side Rapper Arrested
(Chicago, IL) -- South Side rapper Lil Reese is behind bars. He was picked up early Sunday after officers caught him sleeping in car on South Wells Street. Police arrested him on a warrant from Champaign County for criminal trespass, mob action and battery that allegedly took place in February 2012.
Two Injured In Police-Related Shooting
(Chicago, IL) -- A police-involved shooting on Chicago's Near West Side is under investigation. The "Tribune" says an off-duty cop shot a gunman last night near West Jackson and South Leavitt after a separate shootout in which a bystander was wounded. A second victim - who was struck by an errant bullet - was treated for unknown injuries.
Man Accused Of Scrapping School Buses
(Calumet City, IL) -- A man from Calumet City faces accusations he stole and scrapped numerous school buses. Nineteen-year-old Angel Bivanco is alleged to have been involved in the thefts of eight school buses from Sunrise bus company's yard on the Far South Side last month. He's been ordered held in lieu of bail.
Wisconsin Monk Faces Abduction Allegations
(Undated) -- A Benedictine monk from Wisconsin is under arrest in Illinois, accused of the attempted abduction of a teenager. The "Sun-Times" said Thomas Chmura faces charges of trying to abduct a 14-year-old in Antioch. Police say Chmura - of Saint Benedict's Abbey in Benet Lake, Wisconsin - admits he's tried to offer rides to young girls in recent weeks.
Principal: Baseball Game Forfeiture Not Race-Related
(Chicago, IL) -- The forfeiture of a Chicago high school baseball game over the weekend is not due to racism. That's according to the principal of North Side Public Schools who tells the "Tribune" internal coaching problems with the baseball team at Walter Payton College Prep are why its Saturday game at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep was forfeited. But Payton coach William Wittleder was quoted over the weekend as saying some of his players' parents wouldn't let them play at Brooks out of fear for their safety.
