Cards Double Up Reds In Rubber Match
(St. Louis, MO) -- Matt Carpenter singled in the go-ahead score to ignite a three-run sixth inning as the Cardinals beat the Reds, 4-2. Pete Kozma and Daniel Descalso also singled in runs in the frame for St. Louis, which took the final two of the three-game series at Busch Stadium. Carlos Beltran hit his seventh home run of the year for the Redbirds. Lance Lynn pitched seven innings of one-run ball to improve to 5-and-0. Edward Mujica [[ moo-HE-kuh ]] posted his sixth save. The Cards and Brewers continue the four-game series tonight.
Blues Host Kings
(St. Louis, MO) -- The St. Louis Blues welcome in the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings tonight for Game Two of their best-of-seven Western Conference quarterfinals. The Blues are up 1-0 after defeating the Kings 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday. Game Three is on Saturday in L.A.
Orb Early Favorite For Saturday's Kentucky Derby
(Louisville, KY) -- Orb is the 7-to-2 morning-line favorite for Saturday's 139th running of the Kentucky Derby. The post-position draw was held Tuesday, and Orb will break from gate 16 in the 20-horse field. Verrazano is the second choice at 4-to-1 and will occupy post 14. Goldencents is the third choice at 5-to-1 and will start from gate eight.
