Appearing in Monmouth, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos made comments to a group of area seniors regarding legislation she is pursuing. Amongst the first bills is legislation to maintain and update the nation's waterways, a part of our infrastructure the ag. industry relies upon.
Another bill offers referential treatment to companies that pledge to create jobs in America and can prove they do so. Also Bustos along with Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth and other members of Congress, introduced the bipartisan and bicameral Troop Talent Act of 2013, which would help put veterans back to work. The bill would improve the alignment of specialty skills acquired in the military with civilian certifications or licenses required for post-service employment. It would also allow Military Tuition Assistance (MTA) and the Post 9-11 GI Bill to be used on courses and programs that guarantee a credential or industry certification after successful completion.
