Macomb, Illinois, June 17, 2013  - The Western Illinois Regional Council is now accepting projects to submit to the Illinois Energy Now public sector energy efficiency rebate program.  This program is administered by the State of Illinois and provides rebates for energy efficient upgrades to electric equipment and natural gas systems.  Upgrades that may qualify are lighting, heating and cooling, water heaters, motors and some kitchen appliances.   Eligible applicants include local governments, counties, townships, special units of government, public schools, colleges, universities and state and federal agencies.   Under previous year’s programs successful rebates were awarded to several local communities including the City of Carthage receiving $4,580 for new motors it installed in its water treatment plant and the City of Abingdon receiving $1,680 to replace a furnace in its police station.  The Village of Good Hope was also awarded a $700 rebate to install an AC in their water treatment building.  Rebates are now eligible for equipment purchased or installed after May 31, 2013 and before June 1, 2014.  Incentives for natural gas projects may receive an extra 10% rebate if completed by October 31, 2013 or 5% if completed by February 14, 2014.  Now is the time to save energy and get reimbursed for it.  To find out more details or apply, please contact Nathan Cobb today at 309-837-3941 or by email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
