Galesburg to host business matchmaking event
Galesburg, IL (June 16, 2013) - West Central Illinois metal fabricators and OEM manufacturers will have an opportunity to meet with National Railway Equipment’s (NRE) Director of Global Supply Chain Management, Mike Zefara, at a ‘Supply Chain Matchmaking Event’ hosted by the city of Galesburg’s Economic Development team. The June 25 meeting, to be held at Carl Sandburg College, will allow area businesses a close up look at NRE’s supply chain needs for its existing and new products. NRE is the world's largest independent supplier of new and remanufactured locomotives, and is looking for supply chain partners in the Galesburg/West Central Illinois Region.
Gary Camarano, Global Strategy Director for Galesburg’s EBI Network said, “This supply chain matchmaking event is one of a series of networking and informational meeting we will be hosting for businesses that are looking for quality supply chain partners from the West Central Illinois Region. We have a rich tradition in mobile machinery and metal fabrication, and bringing opportunities for our businesses to discuss new business opportunities will be an important ongoing activity for us.”
NRE’s Mike Zefara added, “We’ve developed a good working relationship with Galesburg’s Economic Development team and are looking forward to sitting down with the region’s manufacturers to discuss ‘how to get into our supply chain’. There are opportunities here and we want to see more business with Galesburg/West Central Illinois manufacturers.”
The June 25th event will be held at Carl Sandburg College’s Business Technology Center. The BTC is in the process of starting a Diesel Locomotive Repair program, making this event even more relevant to the Galesburg Region.
Bryan Ahee, VP of Information Management for Roseville’s Fusion Tech said, “I am looking forward to hearing about the opportunities at NRE. We’ve a multitude of options – laser cutting, welding, water jet cutting, machining, rolling and forming – we can share with them and other event participants, and this is a perfect forum to do that.” Ahee added, “This event can be very helpful for acquiring new business, and we’re eager to participate.”
Following the NRE supply chain presentation there will be a meeting on a proposed ‘3D Printer Time Share Program. Camarano explains, “The 3D Printer Time Share program will allow participants to share the cost of a high-quality 3D Printer. These devices improve a business’ efficiency and cost effectiveness when working on prototypes - it speeds the process up at a fraction of the cost, and has shown great results at companies currently using them. The Time Share program maybe a way for companies to access a high-quality printer at a fraction of the cost. It’s something we want to have a discussion on has there has been a great deal of interest in it.”
