Cards Cruise Past Cubs
(St. Louis, MO) -- Matt Holliday lifted a solo homer and knocked in two runs to help the Cardinals crush the Cubs 6-1 in St. Louis. Scott Feldman dipped to 6-and-6 after giving up five runs in five-and-a-third frames. Welington Castillo was 3-for-4 with a solo shot for Chicago, which has lost four-of-five. The Cubs and Astros start a three-game series today.
Twins Hit Four Homers To Complete Sweep Of White Sox
(Minneapolis, MN) -- Oswaldo Arcia went 3-for-4 with a home run as the Twins doubled up the White Sox 8-4 at Target Field. John Danks was tagged for 12 hits and six runs in five frames to fall to 1-and-4 with the loss. Alexei Ramirez had four hits and Paul Konerko and Adam Dunn clubbed back-to-back home runs in the sixth for Chicago. The Sox and Royals begin a three-game series tonight.
Blackhawks Host Game Five
(Chicago, IL) -- The Chicago Blackhawks are back on home ice tomorrow for Game Five of the Stanley Cup Final against the Boston Bruins. The Blackhawks defeated the Bruins 6-5 in overtime of Game Four on Wednesday to even up the best-of-seven series at 2-2. Game Six is in Boston on Monday.
Fire Face Crew
(Columbus, OH) -- The Chicago Fire are back in action tomorrow in Columbus against the Crew. The Fire defeated the Crew 2-1 earlier this month. Chicago is in eighth place in the East at 4-7-and-3 with 15 points.
Wambach Surpasses Hamm On U.S. Goal List
(Harrison, NJ) -- Abby Wambach is the new all-time leader in goals for the U.S. Women's National Team. Wambach scored four goals in the opening half of the American's 5-0 win over Korea Republic on Thursday. The 33-year-old forward came into the match with 156 scores, two back of Mia Hamm. Hamm registered 158 goals from 1987-2004. The U.S. is now 7-0-and-1 all-time in this series.
U.S. Men To Play In Sarajevo
(Chicago, IL) -- The U.S. Men's National Team will play Bosnia-Herzegovina on August 14th. The international friendly will be played in the nation's capital of Sarajevo. The game is the last before the Americans return to World Cup Qualifying. The men are in action next on July 5th when they host Guatemala for a friendly in San Diego.
Sky Fall To Shock
(Tulsa, OK) -- Sylvia Fowles posted 17 points and 12 rebounds as the Chicago Sky fell to the Tulsa Shock 83-74 in Oklahoma. Elena Delle Donne chipped in with 14 points while Epiphanny Prince had 13 for Chicago, which slipped to 4-and-3. The Sky are at the Fever tomorrow.
