Cards Cruise Past Cubs
(St. Louis, MO) -- Matt Holliday lifted a solo homer and knocked in two runs to help the Cardinals crush the Cubs 6-1 in St. Louis. Allen Craig also drove in two runs for St. Louis, which took three-of-four in the series. Yadier Molina scored twice in the win. Lance Lynn improved to 10-and-1 after allowing one run in six innings. Scott Feldman dipped to 6-and-6 after giving up five runs in five-and-a-third frames. Welington Castillo was 3-for-4 with a solo shot for Chicago, which has lost four-of-five. The Cards start a three-game set with Texas tonight while the Cubs begin a three-game set with Houston today.
"Carp" Suffers Setback
(St. Louis, MO) -- St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Chris Carpenter suffered a setback as he works his way back from injury. Carpenter felt lower back tightness following a mound session on Sunday. He is 0-and-2 with a 3.71 ERA this season. He is currently on the 60-day disabled liSt.
Cards Ink Two Picks
(St. Louis, MO) -- The St. Louis Cardinals continue to sign draft picks. The Cards inked infielder Malik Collymore, who was selected in the 10th round earlier this month. Also signed is right-hander Blake Higgins, who was taken in the 16th round.
Billikens Add Shockers To B'ball Slate
(St. Louis, MO) -- The St. Louis Billikens have added another member to its non-conference basketball schedule. SLU will play a home-and-home series with Wichita State. The Shockers will play at Chaifeta Arena on December 1st while the Billikens will travel to Kansas the following season.
