>>Quinn: I Won’t Sign A Partial Pension Fix

(Springfield, IL)  --  Governor Quinn says he won’t sign a pension bill that doesn’t fund the pension systems at 100-percent.  In an op-ed to the Springfield “State Journal Register,” Quinn says the state’s economy has suffered and it’s time to get to the bottom of the problem.  He’s called a conference committee, which will bring ten lawmakers together to work out a new deal.  They’ll be meeting for the first time this Thursday with the hopes of hashing out a deal by July 9th, but Quinn says some are already complaining that’s not enough time to negotiate a new plan.

>>Brady To Announce Bid For Governor

(Bloomington, IL)  --  State Senator Bill Brady is in the race for governor.  He’ll officially announce his bid for the state’s top office in a statewide tour tomorrow, making stops in Chicago, Springfield, Marion, and Bloomington.  It’ll be Brady’s third go-around for the job.  He lost a bid in 2006 and another in 2010, against Governor Quinn.

>>Attorney Busted For Allegedly Growing Marijuana

(Alton, IL)  --  An Alton attorney is on the other side of the law after police found marijuana plants in the basement of one of his homes.  Bradford Hunt was charged with two counts of unlawful production of marijuana yesterday.  Police were investigating a burglary at the home on Horn Avenue when they found about 24 marijuana plants.  Hunt was taken into custody but has since been released on bail.

>>Paula Deen Restaurant May Be On Chopping Block

(Joliet, IL)  --  Paula Deen’s restaurant in Joliet could be on the chopping block after the celebrity chef admitted to referring to Black people by using the “N” word.  Operators at Caesar’s Entertainment, which owns Harrah’s Casino, have said they’re keeping an eye on the situation.  Deen’s restaurant opened at the casino last year.  Deen admitted to using the racial slur last week, and has since been dropped by the Food Network and as spokeswoman for Smithfield Foods.  Her relationship with QVC and Sears are also under review. 

>>Blackhawks Victory Parade This Friday

(Chicago, IL)  --  Chicago will help celebrate the Blackhawks Stanley Cup win with a parade this Friday.  The Hawks beat the Boston Bruins last night after scoring two goals, 17 seconds apart late in the third period of Game Six.  Chicago won the series four games to two.
