(Aledo, IL) -- Bobby Schilling is looking for a rematch in the 17th Congressional District. He says he’s gearing up to challenge Congresswoman Cheri Bustos next year. Bustos unseated Schilling in the 2012 election but he says his work in D.C. isn’t finished. Schilling is hoping he’ll clinch the Republican nomination next year. He’ll officially announce next Monday, July 8th at Aledo Central Park.

(Columbia, IL) -- A Columbia man is in police custody after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death. Jordan Kuykendall is accused of stabbing Erin Schneider multiple times in her torso and neck, the same day her order of protection against him might’ve become permanent. Schneider’s body was discovered last Thursday in a home on Riebeling Street. She would’ve been a senior in high school this year. Instead, she’ll be laid to rest at 10 a.m. this morning at Quernheim Funeral Home in Columbia.

(Champaign, IL) -- Champaign Mayor Don Gerard isn’t allowed to go near his ex-girlfriend. A judge issued an order of protection against him last Thursday. Gerard allegedly harassed and threatened Laura Huth after the two broke up. The order requires Gerard to stay away from Huth for the next two years.

(Godfrey, IL) -- The monkey that bit a young boy at Glazebrook Park in Godfrey is now in state custody. Madison County State's Attorney Tom Gibbons argued successfully Friday that the state should take custody of the animal because people aren’t allowed to own primates in Illinois. The monkey was quarantined after the incident last month, but problems arose with the temporary aspect of its housing. Gibbons says the St. Louis Zoo has agreed to take the monkey and find her a new home that meets the requirements of the Dangerous Animal Act.

(Marion, IL) -- A medical-assistant from Elmhurst has a new title and a crown to go with it. Brittany Smith won the Miss Illinois pageant Saturday night. She danced her way into the judge’s hearts with a little luck o’ the Irish. Her specialty act was an Irish step-dance to “Reel Around the Sun.” Smith will go on to represent Illinois in the Miss America pageant this September.
