The Galesburg City Council will meet on Monday, July 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.  The agenda and E-packet are available on the city's website. On the agenda is a motion to approve emergency repairs to the Oquawka Water Treatment Plant due to lightning strike on May 26, .that caused over $30,000 worth of damage to a specialized touch screen that is tied in to the operation of the plant.. A repair had to be made quickly in order to protect the City’s water supply. The damage is covered by the City’s property insurance, less a $5,000 deductible. Amending Section 152.119 of the Development Ordinance to allow a high tunnel
structure as a legal use in the I, institutional zoning district (Final Reading).

Item 13-1027 Rezoning 1965 East Main Street
The Planning and Zoning Commission recommends approval of an ordinance to rezone from R-
1B, single family residential, to B-2, general business, the property located at 1965 East Main
Street for the construction of a new Taco Bell with drive through facility. City Staff concur with
the recommendation. The future land use map in the comprehensive plan designates the site as
commercial. (Final Reading).
Item 13-1028 High tunnel structure - Development Ordinance
The Planning and Zoning Commission recommends approval of an ordinance to allow the
installation of high tunnel structures on properties zoned I, institutional. Knox College and
Growing Together, Inc would like to construct high tunnel structures (HTS) at the college and
820 East Fifth Street respectively. Direction was given for Community Development to develop
an amendment to Section 152.119 of the Development Ordinance regarding high tunnel structure
requirements. (Final Reading).
Item 13-2018 Commitment of funds from Community Center
Staff recommends approval of a resolution committing fund balance for the proceeds from the
sale of the community center. With the sale of the Community Center, to M.A.K. Properties,
interest was expressed in using the proceeds of the sale to purchase and/or renovate a community
center in the future. In order to “commit” the money, City Council must approve a resolution
committing the funds for this purpose in the same year as the sale of the property.
