Cubs Blank Cardinals

(Chicago, IL)  --  Edwin Jackson fired seven shutout innings to pace the Cubs to a 3-0 win over the Cardinals in Chicago.  Jackson allowed three hits while striking out five as he moved to 6-and-10.  Anthony Rizzo knocked in all three runs for Chicago, which has won five-of-six.  Starlin Castro was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs in the win.  Kevin Gregg picked up his 16th save.  The Cubs and Cards continue the series today.

City Approves Video Board For Wrigley

(Chicago, IL)  --  The city of Chicago has approved a new video scoreboard for Wrigley Stadium.  The 4,560-square-foot board will be in left field.  The Commission on Chicago Landmarks also unanimously approved a 650 square-foot sign in right field along with a sign matrix for future advertising.

Phegley Grand Slam Lifts White Sox Over Tigers

(Detroit, MI)  --  Josh Phegley [[ FAIG-lee ]] belted a grand slam in the sixth inning to erase a 3-1 deficit and lift the White Sox to a 6-3 win over the Tigers at Comerica Park.  Alejandro De Aza went 3-for-5 with an RBI and Alexei Ramirez had two hits and drove in a run for Chicago.  Chris Sale pitched into the seventh inning for the win as the Sox took two-of-three in the series.  The White Sox and Phillies start a three-game series tonight.

Bulls Begin Vegas Summer League

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The Chicago Bulls begin their Las Vegas Summer League schedule on Saturday at COX Pavilion.  They play the Memphis Grizzlies.  The 61-game schedule goes through Monday, July 22nd, when the NBA Summer League Champion will be crowned.

Bulls Re-Sign Mohammed

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Bulls have re-signed center Nazr Mohammed.  The 35-year-old will be entering his 16th NBA season and second with the Bulls.  Mohammed averaged 2.6 points and 3.1 rebounds over 63 games in a reserve role last season.  The 6-foot-10 big man has averaged 6.3 points and five rebounds in his career with the Sixers, Hawks, Knicks, Spurs, Pistons, Bobcats, Thunder and Bulls.

Man Sues Scottie Pippen For Millions Over Attack

(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Former Bulls forward Scottie Pippen is facing a multi-million-dollar lawsuit over an alleged physical confrontation with a man in the Los Angeles area.  Camran Shafighi has filed a four-million-dollar lawsuit against the Hall of Famer, saying Pippen punched him in the head and kicked him on the ground when Shafighi asked for a picture with him outside Nobu Malibu restaurant on June 23rd.  L.A. County Sheriff's officials say they continue to investigate the alleged altercation but say the former NBA All-Star voluntarily spoke to investigators and was allowed to leave without being arrested.

Sky Take On Sun

(Uncasville, CT)  --  The Chicago Sky are in Connecticut tonight facing the Sun.  The Sky have won two straight, including Wednesday's four-point victory over the Washington Mystics.  Chicago defeated the Sun 86-75 in the second game of the season.  The Sun lost 78-66 at Indiana last Saturday.

Big Ten Announces 2016, 2017 Football Schedules

(Park Ridge, IL)  --  The Big Ten has announced its 2016 and 2017 football schedules.  All teams will play a nine-game conference slate for the first time since 1984.  Illinois opens the conference schedule at Nebraska in 2016 and hosts the Cornhuskers the next season.  Meanwhile, Northwestern plays at Iowa in four years and at Wisconsin in 2017.  The winners of the East and West meet on December 3rd in 2016 and December 2nd in 2017 for the Big Ten title game.

Fire Face Vancouver

(Vancouver, British Columbia)  --  The Chicago Fire are north of the boarder for their Sunday matchup against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.  The Fire are coming off a 3-2 loss to Club America in a friendly on Wednesday.  This is the first regular season meeting between the two sides.  They played to a 1-1 draw in the preseason.
