Cardinals Fall To Dodgers
(St. Louis, MO) -- Adam Wainwright pitched seven innings and allowed three runs but the Cardinals suffered a 3-2 loss to the Dodgers in the opener of a four-game set. Wainwright fell to 13-and-7 on the season. Carlos Beltran and Allen Craig each drove in a run with a groundout. St. Louis has lost two out of its last three and is now two games back of the Pirates in the NL Central.
Cards Face Dodgers Again
(St. Louis, MO) -- The Cardinals and Dodgers are back at it again tonight from Busch Stadium. St. Louis sends Joe Kelly and his 2-and-3 record to the mound. Los Angeles will counter with left-hander Clayton Kershaw, who is 10-and-6 with a 1.87 ERA on the year. The Dodgers have won a franchise-best 15 straight road games, which is two shy of the major-league single-season mark. First pitch is set for 7:15.
Cubs Open Set With Phillies
(Philadelphia, PA) -- The Cubs and Phillies open a three-game series from Philadelphia tonight. Edwin Jackson will take his 7-and-11 record to the mound for Chicago. Philadelphia counters with Kyle Kendrick, who is 9-and-8 with a 4.29 ERA. First pitch is set for 6:05 from Citizens Bank Park.
Rams Continue Camp
(Earth City, MO) -- The Rams are hard at work this week during training camp in Earth City. The team practices once again today at 3:30. Session three of the team's training academy camp will be held this morning at 9:00. St. Louis travels to Cleveland to face the Browns on Thursday night in the first preseason game of the year.
Blues Still Negotiating With Pietrangelo
(St. Louis, MO) -- The Blues still have one more restricted free agent that has yet to sign. The "Post-Dispatch" reports that the team is still negotiating on a deal for defenseman Alex Pietrangelo. The report says a holdout is possible. This marks the latest into an offseason general manager Doug Armstrong has allowed a restricted free agent to remain unsigned.
College Football Season Approaches
(Undated) -- The college football season is drawing near and teams are hard at work preparing. Missouri and Illinois are both getting set for the upcoming season. The Tigers start the season at home on August 31st against Murray State. The Fighting Illini also open at home that same day against Southern Illinois.
