Cards Clip Pirates In 14 Innings
(St. Louis, MO) -- Adron Chambers singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 14th inning as the Cardinals clipped the Pirates 4-3 in the opener of a three-game series at Busch Stadium. Allen Craig's RBI-single in the bottom of the ninth tied the game at three. Jon Jay went 4-for-6 and drove in a run for the Redbirds, who have won two in-a-row after a four-game skid.
Cards Recall Curtis From Triple-A
(St. Louis, MO) -- Infielder Jermaine Curtis is back with the Cardinals. He was promoted from Triple-A Memphis before last night's game against the Pirates. It's his second stint with the club this season. Curtis went 0-for-2 in three games with the Cards earlier this year. He hit .259 in 96 games at Memphis. Pitcher Michael Blazek was optioned back to Memphis.
Cards, Pirates Play Again Tonight
(St. Louis, MO) -- The Cardinals and Pirates will play the second game of their three-game series at Busch Stadium tonight. Shelby Miller takes the ball for St. Louis. He's 11-and-7 on the season with a 2.89 ERA. Pittsburgh will start Francisco Liriano, who is 12-and-5 with a 2.83 ERA. The Cardinals trail the Pirates by two games for first place in the NL Central.
Reds Edge Cubs In 11 Innings
(Chicago, IL) -- Shin-Soo Choo hit a two-run single in the top of the 11th inning to lift the Reds past the Cubs 6-4 in the middle of a three-game set at Wrigley Field. Nate Schierholtz smacked a two-run homer and Dioner Navarro and Donnie Murphy added solo shots for the Cubs, who have dropped three straight. Eduardo Sanchez suffered his first loss. The teams wrap up the series today.
Rams Considering Future Uniform Changes
(St. Louis, MO) -- The Rams may sport a different look in the years ahead. Executive Kevin Demoff tells the "Post-Dispatch" that a change in the current and throwback uniform is likely in the next five years. The Rams will wear 1999 blue and gold uniforms for home games against Tennessee and Tampa Bay this year. The Rams beat both that year en route to a Super Bowl title.
Rams Prepare For Packers
(St. Louis, MO) -- The Rams continue to prepare for preseason game number two. They host Green Bay in their exhibition home opener Saturday night at the Edward Jones Dome. The Rams began the preseason with a 27-19 loss at Cleveland while Green Bay was shut out 17-0 at home by Arizona. Meanwhile, the Rams have signed offensive tackle D.J. Young to the roster.
