Pirates Cruise Past Cards To Extend NL Central Lead
(St. Louis, MO) -- Francisco Liriano went the distance as the Pirates cruised to a 5-1 win over the Cardinals in the middle of a three-game series at Busch Stadium. Carlos Beltran plated the lone run for the Redbirds, who had won their previous two. Shelby Miller allowed five runs, three earned, in six frames as he slipped to 11-and-8. The Cards and Bucs end the series today.
Cards OF Prospect Taveras To Have Surgery
(Undated) -- The season is officially over for Cardinals outfield prospect Oscar Taveras. He will undergo surgery next week to fix lingering pain in his ankle. Taveras played in only 47 games this season due to the injury. He batted .306 with five homers and 32 RBI in 46 games with Triple-A Memphis. He is ranked by MLB.com as the second overall prospect in baseball.
Arroyo, Reds Shut Out Cubs
(Chicago, IL) -- Bronson Arroyo combined with two relievers on a two-hitter as the Reds shut out the Cubs 5-0 at Wrigley Field. Chris Rusin took the loss for Chicago. David DeJesus and Darnell McDonald had the lone hits for the Cubs. The Cubs and Cardinals start a three-game series tomorrow.
Rams LB Dunbar Suspended

He can return to the active roster the day after the Week Four contest against the 49ers. He can participate in all preseason practices and games. The St. Louis Rams were ranked 29th out of 32 teams at 875-million. The average value of an NFL franchise is now 1.17-billion-dollars.
NCAA Releases B'ball Attendance List
(Indianapolis, IN) -- The NCAA released official figures for attendance of men's basketball games last season. The Saint Louis Billikens were 64th nationally with over 76-hundred fans per game. Illinois was 17th with over 15-thousand per contest. Kentucky was number one at 24-thousand people per game.
