Cardinals Rip Reds
(St. Louis, MO) -- Carlos Beltran, Matt Holliday and Yadier Molina had two hits each to lead the Cardinals to a key win over the Reds at Busch Stadium. Joe Kelly allowed one run on eights hits over six innings and improved to 6-and-3. The Cardinals took a four-and-a-half game lead over the Reds in the NL Central as Cincinnati lost its third straight. St. Louis goes for the series sweep tonight.
Cubs Outlast Dodgers, Kershaw
(Los Angeles, CA) -- Starting pitcher Travis Wood out-dueled Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw and the Cubs picked up a 3-2 win over L.A. at Dodger Stadium. Wood did not allow an earned run over seven innings and gave up five hits while striking out six. He improved to 8-and-10. Starlin Castro and Dioner Navarro had two hits and a run batted in each for Chicago. The rubber game of the series is tonight.
Rams Gear Up For Final Preseason Game
(Earth City, MO) -- The Rams are getting set for their final preseason game. St. Louis welcomes the defending champion Baltimore Ravens to Edward Jones Dome tomorrow night. The Rams are winless this preseason at 0-and-3. St. Louis opens the regular season one week from Sunday at home against the Arizona Cardinals.
Rams Get Roster To 75
(Earth City, MO) -- The Rams are now down to 75 players on their roster after making two more cuts on Tuesday. Linebacker Jabara Williams and guard Ryan Lee were waived. The team has until Saturday to release 22 more players and get down to the regular-season limit of 53.
Missouri Prepares For Opener
(Columbia, MO) -- Missouri is just days away from the start of a new football season. The Tigers will host Murray State on Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. The contest is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff. The Tigers finished their inaugural season in the SEC with a 5-and-7 record and went 2-and-6 in conference action.
Illinois Set To Face Salukis
(Champaign, IL) -- Illinois is soon to kick off the new football season. The Fighting Illini are set to host the Southern Illinois Salukis on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The contest will kickoff at 11:00 a.m. and be seen on the Big Ten Network.
