Gomes' Blast Lifts Red Sox Past Cardinals
(St. Louis, MO) -- Jonny Gomes belted a three-run homer in the sixth inning to send the Red Sox to a 4-2 win over the Cardinals in Game Four of the World Series. Lance Lynn was charged with three runs in less than six innings to take the loss. The best-of-seven series is now tied at two games apiece.
Wong Picked Off To End Game Four
(St. Louis, MO) -- Cardinals rookie Kolten Wong was picked off at first base to end Game Four last night in Busch Stadium. Wong was running for Allen Craig and left Carlos Beltran with the bat in his hand at the plate to end the game. Beltran represented the tying run in the 4-2 loss.
Waino To Pitch Game Five Tonight
(St. Louis, MO) -- The Cardinals send ace Adam Wainwright to the hill for Game Five of the World Series tonight. Wainwright was roughed up for five runs in as many innings in Game One of the series. He will face Boston's Game One starter Jon Lester. First pitch is set for 7:07 from Busch Stadium.
Rams Prepare For Seahawks Monday Night
(St. Louis, MO) -- The Rams are prepping for the national spotlight in Week Eight. They play the NFC West rival Seahawks on "Monday Night Football" at the Edward Jones Dome. The Rams are 3-and-4 Seattle leads the division at 6-and-1. The teams split their two meetings last season.
Blues In Action Tuesday
(St. Louis, MO) -- The Blues return to the ice tomorrow at home against the Winnipeg Jets. St. Louis is 6-1-and-2 on the season after a win over Nashville Saturday. But the Blues lost forward Magnus Paajarvi to an upper-body injury over the weekend. He could be out for some time.
Mizzou Upset At Home
(Columbia, MO) -- Missouri's undefeated streak came to a halt Saturday when the Tigers fell to South Carolina at home, 27-24 in overtime. Marcus Murphy rushed for a pair of scores and Maty Mauk threw for 249 yards and a touchdown in the loss. The Tigers led 17-0 but couldn't keep the game from going into overtime and lost on a field goal. Mizzou is now 7-and-1 overall.
Illinois Blown Out At Home
(Champaign, IL) -- The Fighting Illini led by three after one quarter. But Illinois didn't score again in a 42-3 loss to Michigan State on Saturday. Illinois dropped to 3-and-4 overall and is winless in the Big Ten.
