Bulls Open Season Tomorrow Night
(Miami, FL) -- The Bulls will open the regular season tomorrow night in Miami against the two-time defending champion Heat. Chicago wrapped up the preseason on Friday night with a win over the Nuggets. The Bulls were a perfect 8-and-0 in the exhibition season. Tomorrow's tip is set for 7:00.
Blackhawks Wrap Set With Wild
(St. Paul, MN) -- The Blackhawks wrap up a home-and-home set with the Wild tonight in Minnesota. Chicago dropped the first half of the set on Saturday night at United Center, 5-3. The 'Hawks are now 6-2-and-3 on the season. Faceoff is set for 7:00.
Bears Enjoy Weekend Off
(Lake Forest, IL) -- Bears players enjoyed yesterday watching the NFL slate while on their bye week. Chicago returns to practice today to prepare for next Monday night's game at Green Bay. The Bears find themselves at 4-and-3, a half-game back of the Lions for second and one game back of the Packers for first place.
Two Cubs Nominated For Gold Gloves
(Undated) -- A pair of Cubs could add to their trophy collection tomorrow night. First baseman Anthony Rizzo and second baseman Darwin Barney have been nominated for Rawlings Gold Glove Awards. The winners will be announced tomorrow night at 6:00 on ESPN2. No White Sox players were named finalists.
Illinois No Match For MSU
(Champaign, IL) -- Illinois booted an early field goal before it was run over in a 42-3 loss to Michigan State on Saturday. Nate Scheelhaase threw for 103 yards and an interception as the Fighting Illini fell to 3-and-4 with an 0-and-3 Big Ten record. The Illini play at Penn State next week.
N'Western Falls To Iowa
(Iowa City, IA) -- Northwestern rallied to tie the game late but ultimately fell 17-10 in overtime to Iowa on Saturday. Stephen Buckley ran for 99 yards while Kain Colter threw for 104 yards and a score. The Wildcats fell to 4-and-4 with an 0-and-4 Big Ten record. The 'Cats play at Nebraska next week.
Notre Dame Rolls Air Force
(U.S. Air Force Academy, CO) -- Tommy Rees threw for 284 yards and five touchdowns as Notre Dame rolled to a 45-10 win over Air Force on Saturday. T.J. Jones caught seven balls for 104 yards and a score as the Fighting Irish moved to 6-and-2. The Irish moved into the BCS Standings at 25th and host Navy next week.
Red Bulls Roll Past Fire
(Harrison, NJ) -- The Red Bulls rolled to a 5-2 win over the Fire yesterday, eliminating Chicago from MLS playoff contention. The victory gave New York the Supporters' Shield. Chicago finished the season at 14-13-and-7, with 49 points. The Fire lost the tiebreaker with Montreal, which grabbed the fifth seed in the East.
