(St. Louis, MO) -- Outfielder Carlos Beltran declined the Cardinals one-year, 14-million-dollar qualifying offer. Beltran is an unrestricted free agent, but St. Louis will get a draft pick if he signs with another team. The Cards can still negotiate a deal to bring Beltran back.

Cardinals pitcher Shelby Miller finished third in the National League Rookie of the Year voting. The winner of the award was Marlins starter Jose Fernandez. Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig came in second. Miller was 15-and-9 with a 3.06 ERA this season.

(St. Louis, MO) -- The Blues announced yesterday that defenseman Jordan Leopold will undergo surgery during the week to repair tendon damage in his right hand. Leopold was injured last week and will be out a minimum of eight weeks before being re-evaluated. He has two points in 13 appearances this season.
