>>Wainwright Voted Cy Young Runner-Up

(St. Louis, MO)  --  For the second time in his career, Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright has come in second place in the National League Cy Young voting.  Wainwright finished 121 points behind Dodgers lefty Clayton Kershaw.  The Cards hurler led NL pitchers in starts, innings pitched, wins, complete games and shutouts in 2013.  His career-high 219 strikeouts ranked third among NL pitchers.

 

>>Blues To Face Avalanche Tonight

(St. Louis, MO)  --  The Blues will take the ice tonight against the Colorado Avalanche.  This is the fourth game of a five-game homestand for the 11-2-and-3 Blues.  Left wing Alexander Steen will look to extend his league-leading 11-game point streak.  St. Louis currently trails Colorado and Chicago by three points for first place in the Central Division.

 

>>Illini Edge Out Valpo

(Champaign, IL)  --  Illinois fought off a second-half comeback by Valpo to beat the Crusaders 64-52.  Illinois shot just 31.8-percent from the floor, but four of its five starters scored in the double digits.  Jon Ekey added 15 rebounds as the Illini advanced to 3-and-0.  Illinois will host Bradley on Sunday.

Jordair Jett scored 16 points as Saint Louis handled Southern Illinois-Edwardsville at home 82-58.  Dwayne Evans chipped in with 14 points for the Billikens.  Meanwhile, the 2-and-0 Mizzou Tigers will return to the court Saturday against Hawaii.

 

>>Tavon Austin Up For Rookie Of The Week

(St. Louis, MO)  --  Rams wide receiver Tavon Austin is a nominee for the NFL Rookie of the Week.  Austin scored three touchdowns for the Rams on Sunday, including a 98-yard punt return for a TD.  He also racked up 138 yards on two receptions in the Rams' 38-8 win over the Indianapolis Colts.  The Rams will return to the field November 24th when they host the Chicago Bears.
