>>Cutler, Briggs Out Vs. Ravens

(Lake Forest, IL)  --  The Chicago Bears will be without quarterback Jay Cutler and linebacker Lance Briggs for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens.  Head coach Marc Trestman made the announcement on Wednesday.  Cutler injured his ankle last Sunday in his first game back since hurting his groin in mid-October.  Briggs is out with a fractured shoulder.


>>Bears Ink Martin

(Lake Forest, IL)  --  The Chicago Bears signed safety Derrick Martin to a one-year deal on Wednesday.  Martin played in five games for New England last season, recording one sack and two tackles.  The seven-year veteran has appeared in 66 games with the Baltimore Ravens, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants and Pats.


>>Sam Hurd Gets 15-Year Sentence On Drug Trafficking

Former Bears and Cowboys wide receiver Sam Hurd is getting 15-years behind bars on a drug-trafficking conviction.  The "Chicago Tribune" reports the one-time NIU player had pleaded guilty back in April to conspiring to possess and distribute marijuana and cocaine.  The 28-year-old Hurd has been behind bars since a judge revoked his bond over a year ago.  He was arrested in December of 2011 near Chicago after getting a kilo of cocaine from an undercover policeman.


>>Rose Misses Practice

(Deerfield, IL)  --  The Chicago Bulls were without guard Derrick Rose at practice yesterday.  He is day-to-day with a injured right hamstring.  He status for Friday's game against Toronto is still to be determined.  Rose is averaging 14.7 points and 4.5 assists per game this season.


>>Bulls Battle Toronto

(Toronto, Ontario)  --  The Chicago Bulls are north of the boarder tomorrow night facing the Toronto Raptors.  The Bulls have won two straight to move to 3-and-3 overall.  The Raptors defeated Memphis 103-87 last night.


>>Sale Fifth In AL Cy Young Vote

Chicago White Sox starter Chris Sale was fifth in the American League Cy Young vote.  He earned one first-place vote and 44 points.  Max Scherzer had 28 of the 30 first-place votes for 203 points to win his first Cy Young Award.  Yu Darvish of the Rangers was second while the Mariners' Hisashi Iwakuma was third.


>>Blackhawks Host Coyotes

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Chicago Blackhawks host the Phoenix Coyotes at the United Center tonight.  The Blackhawks have won three straight to improve to 12-2-and-4 on the season.  The Coyotes have won seven of their last eight to move to 13-4-and-2 on the year.


>>Illini Drop Valpo

(Champaign, IL)  --  Rayvonte Rice scored a game-high 18 points to guide the Fighting Illini to a 64-52 win over Valparaiso.  Joseph Bertand added 14 points and six rebounds for Illinois, which moved to 3-and-0 on the season.  The Illini take on Bradley Sunday.


>>Blue Demons Fall To Southern Miss

(Rosemont, IL)  --  Brandon Young scored a game-high 23 points to go with six rebounds and four steals as the DePaul Blue Demons fell 75-68 to Southern Miss in Rosemont.  Cleveland Melvin chipped in with 16 points for DePaul, which dropped to 1-and-1 on the young season.  The Blue Demons play Wright State on Saturday.


>>Wildcats At Stanford

(Stanford, CA)  --  The Northwestern Wildcats are on the road tonight in Northern California playing the Stanford Cardinal at Maples Pavilion.  The Wildcats are 1-and-0 after winning the season opener 72-55 over Eastern Illinois.  Stanford is 1-and-1 following a 112-103 setback to BYU on Monday.
