(St. Louis, MO) -- Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina received two first-place votes for National League Most Valuable Player. But he finished third overall in the voting as Pittsburgh's Andrew McCutchen was named the winner. Molina batted .319 with 12 home runs and 80 RBI.

(Earth City, MO) -- Rams rookie wide receiver Tavon Austin is the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week. Austin scored three touchdowns for the Rams last weekend, including a 98-yard punt return for a TD. The Rams are on their bye this weekend.

(St. Louis, MO) -- Alexander Steen scored a pair of goals to guide the Blues to a 7-3 win over the Avalanche at the Scottrade Center. David Backes tallied a goal and two assists for St. Louis, which moved to 12-2-and-3. T.J. Oshie chipped in with four assists in the win. Jaroslav Halak made 21 saves in net for the Blues. St. Louis hosts Carolina on Saturday.
College Basketball Schedule Roundup
There is plenty of area college basketball this weekend. Undefeated Illinois will host Bradley on Sunday. Missouri hosts Hawaii tomorrow night. Saint Louis also plays tomorrow on the road at Southern Illinois.
